The family of the 35-year-old Lawrence Township Quick Chek gas station attendant gathered with more than 50 people Wednesday night at a candlelight vigil behind the Brunswick Pike gas station. AdvertisementOfficials from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed Charles Nevius’ death on Thursday, the day after the candlelight vigil. His obituary said he died Tuesday.The woman who organized the candlelight vigil told The Trentonian that Nevius was an organ donor and was kept on life support long enough for doctors to harvest his organs.Police released screenshots of the driver of a gray Nissan Altima with tinted windows who was wearing a bandana and a sweatshirt when he collided with someone in a Honda SUV. The crash happened around 1:40 p.m.Nevius was struck by the fleeing motorist when he tried to intervene in the crash. He suffered injuries to his head and leg which he succumbed to. His memorial service is Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Chiacchio Southview Funeral Home on South Broad Street.No arrests have been announced or charges filed in connection with Nevius’ death.
